How To Choose A Training Format

It may get a little confusing at times to identify the specific format of training that is right for you. The following is a small grid that would help you decide

Online, self-paced course Live, online training In-person classroom training
What it is Online, self-study course with video lectures, simulated tests, and other learning aids Online classes that follow a pre-defined schedule where an instructor teaches live Traditional in-person classes delivered by instructors on fixed schedules and at designated training venues
  • You can study at your pace and as per your schedule, and get support whenever needed
  • Low-cost as the course does not necessitate a live instructor
  • You get to attend interactive instructor-led classes from your home or workplace
  • Classes are recorded and are available in your online learning platform access for review for 1 year
  • Really interactive and participative learning environment, with 360-degree learning from the instructor and from your peers
  • The most effective way to learn
  • No customization is available, like examples aligned to your specific line of work, as the course content is designed to be applicable to a broad audience
  • Limited options to interact with other learners
  • Good internet speeds are required for seamless connectivity
  • You would need to free up time from your schedule to accommodate for class timings
  • Travel and in-person attendance at a training venue would be required
  • You would need to free up time from your schedule to accommodate for class timings
  • Not low-cost, as the training provider needs to cover expenses for training venues, logistics, and boot camp-specific instructors
When to choose this? Go for this option when you are constrained in terms of time and schedule availability. You can also opt for this option if all you need is a refresher just before taking up your certification exam Take up this option when you prefer the convenience of attending classes from home, and prefer not to travel Choose this option when you learn best by interacting face-to-face with others - your instructor and your fellow learners.
